I originally generated this letter to send to an intelligence analyst friend after a phone conversation about AI. I asked ChatGPT to compose a letter to him (from the model itself) explaining how AI is relevant to intelligence analysis and to include a few examples to get him started. Of course, the technology is already widely used in the industry but the integration of generative AI and analyst at every level is a more radical transformation that will be soon be upon us. Like it or not, and many won't, it will be both profound and inescapable. Please note that the model did not provide a very comprehensive or nuanced list, nor did I ask it for one as the possible use cases are essentially infinite. At the moment the most useful applications are supporting experienced analysts as opposed to a single prompt generation of product.
