I hope this scum spends some time behind bars:

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has accepted a plea deal that could send him to prison, ending a federal dogfighting prosecution that jeopardizes his pro football career, a Virginia newspaper is reporting.

Vick will plead guilty to felony conspiracy next Monday, defense attorney Lawrence Woodward told the Virginian-Pilot, of Norfolk, Virginia.

The newspaper reports that the plea will help Vick avoid additional federal charges.

“Mike’s accepting full responsibility,” Woodward told the newspaper. “He’s going to do everything he can personally and professionally to make this situation right.”

Federal prosecutors had offered a deal recommending an 18- to 36-month prison sentence. Vick’s attorneys were trying to reduce that to less than a year, two sources told CNN on Monday.

Thugs like this are one of the primary reasons I lost interest in professional sports years ago. I wonder if they have rape stands in prison?

I wonder if anyone will make the argument that all he did was violate one federal law, and he’s just a hardworking guy like any other American, he does a job that others won’t do, and sending him away will separate him from his family?

I keep hearing it in other places, maybe there’ll be a rally for him in L.A.

Yeah, yeah, yeah – dogs are cute and precious, blah, blah, blah. PETA, PETA, PETA – puppy dogs, rainbows and unicorns…

Michael Vick didn’t kill a human; they were f@cking dogs – case closed. There have been countless examples of athletes responsible for deaths – Ray Lewis barely avoided murder charges – let alone drunk driving or worse (let’s not even discuss child support).

Now, it has been a long time since junior high but when last I checked, not only were dogs domesticated animals (that fall much lower on the food chain than humans) but we have killed domesticated animals for much lesser crimes. The ASPCA kills tens of thousands of domesticated animals on a weekly basis. Also, when in the hell did PETA become a lobby group in charge of upholding federal policy?

Don’t get me wrong – Pamela Anderson has great tits, but she needs to shut the f@ck up and just sit there and look pretty. Doesn’t she still have hepatitis or AIDS or something she caught from Kid Rock? Go get therapy bitch, and leave Michael Vick alone.

I agree that killing animals for random reasons is cruel; but fine him. Community Service. Any other mundane nonsense that we normally throw at bullsh!t crimes is the categorical reprimand this deserves.

He was making $100M. Can you imagine the good he would have been able to do in the furthering of animals’ rights with his fame and money? Am I on crazy pills or am I the only one who sees this as another step in the wussification of the public perception of justice? Michael Vick should be free – fine him, spank him, cane him, WHATEVER – but jail? WTF! Anyone who thinks this is enough to completely ruin a man’s life, is bat shit insane and should be spayed and neutered because they shouldn’t taint the gene pool.

Michael Vick’s contribution to the game of football is enormously more valuable than the lives of 10,000 dogs and 72 kittens.

    I have spoken.

    Dear Mr. Goodell

As a member of the black community I am embarrassed by the actions of such hoodlums who conitunue to disrespect the game and our heritage. The actions of the likes of the Vick bros, Pacman Jones, Ray Lewis, OJ, Tank Johnson, Chris Henry and so many others, it is simple unacceptable. Someone mentioned it is in their upbringing and lack of parantal guidance. Well I do agree, but i bet they never went to church either. People with money who simple lack the brains to think as an intelligent person and cause harm to others are simple bad seeds.

I support you & the NFL along with the federal govt and all the hard working police departments who day after day help keep our streets safe from these criminals. Because of high priced lawyers and their loopholes time and time the side of good is always the underdog. The silent majority stand behind all of you to do whatever it takes to put such criminals away and to protect our children.

Mr vick will get his due for causing so much pain to those animals. Its between Mr. Vick and his maker now.

Do the right thing and ban this type of human garbage from the NFL.

Please for a moment consider the violent reaction the country has taken against Vick. Now think about how many people are killed each day, how many children are assulted and elderly abused….imagine what our country might be like if everyone took the same violent approach to people who commit a real crime. Dont get me wrong i love dogs more than most and I think he should serve his time for committing a crime and a sin. But here the truth folks, everyone sins. Let the man do his time and get on with his life. Every year hundreds of people are arrested for the same crime. To my knowledge there is no law which states that if you make 100M a year and are famous that you have more responsibility or are somehow held to a different standard than any other human being in this country. Bottom line, the man killed a few dogs but lets chase down the 40 year old who assulted the 7 year old girl or the priest who assulted the 9 year old boy or the gangsters to rob and assult the elderly for the fun of it. Get real people this country has much bigger problems than a quarterback who lost sight of reality…and dont worry he will answer to higher powers than our court system.

Im so tired of the unfair presumption that those of us that fight against cruelty to animals have not fought just as hard against this war, against racism, against corporate greed, against neoliberalism, free trade and American foreign policy. Vick defenders keep using every terrible incident they can come up with, from abortion to wars to murderers that have been set free as a comparison that might excuse vicks behavior. They make these either/or arguments to that make ill informed assumptions. If I care about animal cruelty, then I cant care about muslims or illegal hunting practices or someone getting away with murder or rape? Is that the argument? Or because soldiers who are involved in this corrupt war engage in disgusting torture tactics does that mean that we should excuse any other crimes that do not equate?
This guy made enough money and had the power to make a real difference in many communities, a good difference. He couldn’t find anything more enjoyable than to prepare, organize, provide training and funding for the unnecessary sadistic torture, maiming and killing of innocent animals? Really? He was willing to sacrifice everything he has worked for his entire life in order to sate his appetite for the bloody, brutal, cruel and vicious exploitation of innocent animals that depended on him for survival. What a hero huh? And in case you weren’t aware of it, most sociopaths that engage in sadistic attacks on humans begin by desensitizing themselves by torturing animals.

As an owner of a beautiful German Shephard and an equally spiritied Mini-Schnauzer, I was really upset initially with Mr. Vick’s decisions. Then I thought that in some countries dogs are domesticated, farmed and eaten as food. Wow! Talk about terrible! Then I thought, what about the animals we in the U.S.A. domesticate, farm and eat. Who is standing up for the plight of the helpless chickens and cows…what about the pigs and turkeys? Yeah, yeah, I know what you are going to say…it was just a thought anyway.
