Houston Office of Emergency Managment Will Soon Be in “Dean Mode”

We’re still flooding here in Houston (thanks to Erin) but Harris County Judge Ed Emmett is admitting that he is in “Dean Mode” and that the office of emergency management is planning on kicking off pre-Dean operations on Saturday.

This revelation is good news and shouldn’t be cause for alarm. Nobody knows what Dean will do but it’s nice to hear that our county and city officials aren’t waiting until the last minute to prepare. If you live in Houston you, and your family, should be ready to make some decisions of your own this weekend.

That said, if it does hit us as a major storm it’s going to be ugly. The ground will still be saturated and if we end up on the dirty side of the storm we could see major flooding. Keep an eye on Hurricane Dean.
