Pentagon: No Draft – Cancel Your Trips to Canada
by John Little on 13/08/2007Most people realized that all the draft chatter was exactly that but the Pentagon wisely decided to clarify things:
The Pentagon sharply rejected Monday a key general’s assertion that a return to the military draft has always been “an option on the table” and should be considered.
“I can tell you emphatically that there is absolutely no consideration being given to reinstituting the draft,” said Bryan Whitman, a Pentagon spokesman. “The all-volunteer force has surpassed all expectations of its founders.”
Just as Charlie Rangel was getting his hopes up too:
“They’ll get out of Iraq so fast if they thought that Middle America had to make any sacrifices,” Rangel said today on “Good Morning America Weekend Edition.” “But I do believe that any time our great country is at war, it shouldn’t be sacrifices just by the low or middle-income people. Everyone should share the sacrifice.”
Charlie Rangel’s comments are beyond insulting to our volunteer troops and their families but I think the fact that he’s a world-class moron goes without saying.
