Ron Paul supporters are flooding YouTube, and my inbox, with their conspiracy-laced ramblings. I’ve watched a few of these videos, like the one above, and most of these people are just straight up bat-shit crazy. They make Dennis Kucinich look like Tom Brokaw.
Watching some of the videos I’m reminded of the Lyndon LaRouche supporters who used to hang out at intersections near JSC and hand out pamphlets that advocated shipping AIDS patients to bases on Mars. They’re all googly-eyed unblinking freaks. I’m not the only one noting the similarities:
Interestingly, LaRouche supporters and Ron Paul supporters have an interesting number of parallels, even with some differences.
- Both claim to be from an established party (Ron Paul a Republican or Libertarian RINO, LaRouche claims to be a Democrat)
- Both run very much on a cult of personality
- Both make sweeping statements and accumulate people who set up their entire worldview around what the cult leader says.
- Both make claims about things they’ve said that aren’t necessarily verifiable
- Both are complete freaking lunatics
The key difference is that the Republicans have somehow allowed Ron Paul to maintain office, while the Democrats don’t have to deal with that.
So cue the hate mail I guess. At least it’s more entertaining than the cultish propaganda.
Update:
If someone wants to send me a few rational paragraphs explaining their support for Ron Paul I’ll pick an entry and run it as a guest post in a few days. It seems only fair since I don’t allow comments and I’m sure there are a few of you who aren’t truthers or generally insane. Right?
Update II:
The response is in. Check it out.

Gosh, you all! Do you not agree that special interests or advertisers of major corporations DO attempt to use their influence for their own agendas? Once you realize that there are people who are willing to sacrafice the welfare of their fellow citizens, just in the interest of $$$.
I had to learn all this the hard way, when I was faced with a mysterious medical problem years ago. To my horror, I eventually realized that medicine was much to do about money and the health safety and welfare of the people was not always the first priority. Once you get that into your head, then realizing the possibility for corruption based purely on greed exits; even when starting wars!!!!!
Those who have come from Secret Societies such as Skull and Bones (undisputed about Bush), they are taught to look out for other Members first; and where do the rest of us fit into that? You just can’t believe that some people would sell you out for their own power gains, but do you know that to be true?
Their is a group of folks that question everything. Guess what they ought too. Until they have answers to their concerns, be it the war or media homogenization, it is your duty to not be a brainwashed politico that toes the party line. The party is in disarray and all people can do is attack a fringe of Ron Pauls supporters. TEFLON RON, nothing sticks on his politicle views. Champion of the Constitution, Ron Paul !
TEFLON RON
GOD BLESS AMERICA
GOD BLESS DR. PAUL
brokaw is a twit
I agree with you completely from personal experience with some of these people. I can tell you though, they are not all crazy like that.
Do the research yourself. Ron Paul is not crazy. At first I thought he was too, until I did some research that did not even involve him and found that the things he were saying were true. Google “Federal Reserve Fraud” and find out for yourself. Go to the library if you feel that you cannot trust the internet. I am now a firm supporter of Ron Paul because he is the only one telling the truth as crazy as it may sound. Sometimes the truth is so far fetched it is hard to believe. Let me tell you that when I found out the truth my whole world came crashing down, because I never realized how corrupt our government is, I had an idea, but I did not know it was this bad. And Ron Paul is ready to change it all around.
what’s wrong with getting back to the constitution? Thats all Ron Paul wants… and I would have to agree with him… I will be voting for him, “write in” if I have too.
Some things I’ve noticed about the Ron Paul crowd, and the Alex Jones crowd, the 911 truthers etc.
Firstly they seem to think they are free, or any societ can be free, from human greed, corruption, and collusion. They seem shocked that people have flaws, and many do in fact exploit others whenever they can. Welcome to humanity folks.
Next, there is a tendancy to believe that there is an organized secret organization that drives all activity in the world. Call it the “black helicopter” view. Secretly all humanity is being cultivated for service to some one world government. To listen to their rhetoric, the U.S. government is their enemy, and some even seem to advocate preparation for armed conflict. Very disturbing indeed.
There is often populist rhetoric, and class envy, even anti-capitalist, painting those who do business and make profits as evil exploiters of the people.
There is a consistent theme of hatred toward any who believe in the bible. Jews who believe it, christians who believe it, are labeled tools of the “Zionist conspiracy”, and denigrated. May I point out that other prominent movements that use such rhetoric have been Nazis, Communists, and most recently, Islamic Supremacy.
Many wrap themselves in constitutionalism, and goodnes knows more folks would appreciate it if the Federal Government were more constitutional. However, many advocate policies that would be disasterous to the U.S. Citing for example Thomas Jefferson on the need to stay uninvolved in foreign affairs, yet completely ignoring that it was Thomas Jefferson who organized a fleet to send to Tripoli to suppress the barbary pirates. Take Ron Paul’s policy of completely ignoring foreign affairs. Many of these folks advocate abandoning democratic nations around the world to tyrannical and expansionist neighbors. South Korea, Japan, and Israel are examples. The American way does not consist in standing by and letting just societies get plowed under by neighboring tyrants.
But what are they? Where do they come from? They don’t seem clearly white-supremacist, or marxist even though they use some of the same propaganda techniques. Is this truly a new movement without intellectual heritage in other organizations? And if so, what is it they offer besides hatred of the bible, hatred of their government, fear of world conspiracies, and a hollow and near sighted rhetoric about constitionalism?
While it might be going a bit far to charazterize them as “bat shit insane”, I will say that most of the organizers I’ve met seem a little hazy in their thinking, underinformed about the real world, and fanatically devoted to either Ron Paul or Alex Jones.
I forgot to add one other point. Despite having contempt for actual Biblical Christianity and Judaisim, it seems to wrap itself in the book of Revelation. It uses this book to generate the fear and point fingers to the coming “one world government”.
Indeed, the bible does speak of a coming “one world government”, but it does not talk about investigating it, or fighting with it, simply it asks one to remain true to Christianity even to the point of death.
They simultaneously ignore God’s promises to restore Israel to their land (happend in 1946, they blame it on a shadowy cabal of “Zionists”) but then turn right around and try to use Revelation as the foundation for their conspiracy theories.
While some use the bible extensively, it’s only out of manipulation, not a deeply biblical based Christianity.
Ron Paul is nothing more than a trip through insanity. Why is this lunatic even allowed to remain in office? Who’s secret weapon is he? He is allowed to travel the country with diarhea of the mouth, expounding such sanity as “no more taxes, no more Fed, stop all international interventions, blah, blah, blah. And never bothers to offer any “real” workable solutions. I would rather see L.Ron Hubbard, Jim Jones, and Charlie Manson running the country before this dangerous a-hole wrecks havoc. He is brainwashing some close friends of mine into thinking they are fighting for liberty. Uncle Ron says “do away with all Soc. Security and Government Healthcare.” So Ronny “the rodent”, Medicaid paid for my 85 year old dear mom to have her open-heart surgery last year and Soc. Security is now able to care for them as they worked hard all their lives and paid into it-they deserve it. But Ron if you had your way my good mom, the only one I got would be dead because of you. You are an insidious scuzy simpleton freak, like some smelly ugly rotten fungus, reaching out to destroy America. And they assasinated the Kennedys–a shame that they clearly missed the real villain.
