General David Petraeus Examined

by John Little on 15/01/2007

Will it work in the face of the brutality insurgents are willing (and eager) to dish out? Herschel Smith seems doubtful. Ultimately it will depend on the ratio of ass-kicking to sensitive interaction employed at the start with the understanding that the ratio can shift in favor of sensitivity as (if) we make progress. However, failure seems certain if we aren’t willing to kill those who refuse to play nicely before attempting to win the hearts and minds of average Iraqis. It’s time to throw sensitivity out the window for a while.
