Iran: Nuclear Celebration in February
by John Little on 14/11/2006Iran charges forward, mocking us along the way, and we’re apparently helpless:
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday that Iran’s nuclear success celebration will take place during `Ten-Day Dawn’ period annually marked in Iran on the occasion of the victory of Islamic Revolution.
“This year’s Ten-Day Dawn (February 1-11) period will mark the Iranian nation’s success in mastering fuel cycle as well as its achievements in other fields,” said Ahmadinejad at a press briefing here on Tuesday.
If Ahmadinejad is right, and I have a feeling he may be, the West has already given up:
“Today the Iranian nation possesses the full nuclear fuel cycle and time is completely running in our favor in terms of diplomacy.”
Referring to Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities as one of the most important issues since he came to office 15 months ago, he said it is an issue on which almost all big powers stood against the Iranian nation to prevent it from attaining its rights. However, he said, by the grace of God and thanks to the resistance of the Iranian nation a large number of those who could not tolerate Iran’s launch of fuel cycle have accepted this today and are coexisting and interacting with a nuclear Iran.
There’s more:
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Tuesday that he will soon send a message to the American nation.
“I will soon send a message to the American people. The message is in the stage of preparation,” said Ahmadinejad in a press conference here on Tuesday.
Ahmadinejad said his message would be in response to the American nation’s call.
Hmm Hallmark card or nuke?
Update:
Full speed ahead:
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Tuesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to commission some 60,000 centrifuges to meet the country’s requirements in peaceful use of nuclear technology.
Speaking to domestic reporters at his fifth press conference, he said, “We will commission some 3,000 centrifuges by this year end.” “We are determined to master fuel cycle and commission some 60,000 centrifuges to meet our demands,” said the president.
