Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld to Resign

by John Little on 8/11/2006

Don Rumsfeld has been a superb leader during a time of change. Yet he also appreciates the value of bringing in a fresh perspective during a critical period in this war…Our military has experienced an enormous amount of change and reform during the last five years while fighting the War on Terror; one of the most consequential wars in our Nation’s history. Don Rumsfeld’s a patriot who’s served our country with honor and distinction. He is a trusted adviser and a friend, and I’m deeply grateful for his service to our country. – President Bush

    He’s GOOOONE!!!!!

It’s days like this which almost makes me believe that there is still a little hope in the U.S. When rationality and logic triumphs over irrationality and depravity it IS a good day. The reason that I qualified my statement above is that we must still consider what took so long. THIS is the question. Not that Rumsfeld is finally gone. It’s that it took so long. The critics who recognized Rums for what he was and is, and that has now finally been recognized by the majority, not only of the U.S., but more importantly, the world (And, YES, More importantly), was recognized YEARS ago by the more observant. You know, like when the U.S. was supporting Saddam, before, during, and after “he gassed his own people”. That Rums was even considered to be anywhere near any center of power shows a failed electorate at best, if not the entire system. And that he was able to rise to power even after supporting Saddam shows that with the help of the corporate-controlled, by definition, mainstream media, almost none of the data which would have allowed the average folk to know, and thereby make rational and logic decisions, demonstrates a breakdown. Of course the average European elementary child probably knew that accountability of the accomplices was probably a good idea when supporting the crimes of murdering dictators like Saddam, Pinochet, Marcos, Suharto, etc….but not in the good old U.S. Well, at least not by many. War is little more than the outward projection of a mental disorder. To laud one as a “Man of War” is nothing more than cheering a psychosis. As soon as steps are taken in ALL countires to remove these “men of war” the sooner we can hopefully be able to start calling ourselves moderately civilized. Slavery was abolished. Many diseases have been abolished. And many other things which were thought to have been “natural” were abolished. It’s time to get rid of the disease of war. But if anyone has some reason or view why they would not consider war as a disease, I’d be happy to hear it.kb
