Video: President Bush Caught Off Guard by Open Mic
by John Little on 17/07/2006 Sky News has the story:
Some unguarded comments by President Bush were captured on camera after he left his microphone on during set up shots at the G8 summit in St Petersburg. Here he is seen talking to Tony Blair about the crisis in Lebanon.
Some people find it funny but I find it reassuring. There’s more at Adam Boulton’s blog. He has the full transcript and it’s quite revealing:
A fascinating conversation between Tony Blair and George Bush has been caught by the microphones at the G8, when the two men didn’t think they were being overheard. It tells us a lot about the relationship between the two men, about the US-UK special relationship and the two men’s views on the Middle East.
Most media reports seem to be caught up in the fact that Bush said “shit” and completely ignore some of the more interesting aspects of the exchange.
