Hezbollah Chain of Command Intact – Operation Just Reward May End Next Week
by John Little on 16/07/2006This report makes it sound like Israel is picking an arbitrary date to end the operation. As I said earlier that would be a mistake:
About 25 percent of Hizbullah’s capabilities have been hit, a high-ranking IDF officer estimated on Sunday night at the end of the fifth day of Operation Just Reward.According to the officer, the group’s chain of command is still functioning. He estimated that the Lebanese group would not be annihilated when the dust settles, only severely damaged.
The officer predicted that the operation would end in the middle of next week.
Predicting the end of the operation doesn’t give us much to go on. Does he believe that the kidnapped soldiers will be returned? Will a new operation, another phase, be kicked off? Even with plans in place anything could happen at this point.
