Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni spoke with her American counterpart Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for the fifth time in three days on Friday.

Rice expressed concern over the arrest of most of the Hamas government and over the continued captivity of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

I suppose this kind of moral ambiguity is a necessary component of State Department diplomacy. It may be meaningless but it still pisses me off. I’d much rather see her come out and say something along the lines of “Well I guess it sucks to be a terrorist this week.”
