The photos you see at the top of each Blogs of War page come from a few different sources. Most are from the public domain DefenseLINK Multimedia Gallery. Some are from other public domain defense libraries. There’s one cartoon, used by permission of my friends Cox and Forkum, and Jesse from Red Arrows in Iraq generously offered a few photos.
There are currently 61 photos in rotation. Each time you visit or refresh a page one of the images is randomly selected. If you’d like to submit one or two of your own (no cat pics please) for consideration you can send them to johnwlittle@gmail.com.
